"The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates
As of right now the project is about 85-90% complete, all that is left is the inclusion of some new submissions that I am waiting on, the fleshing out of about 10-15 profiles and some tweaking here and there. After that will come beta testing, proofreading, troubleshooting and the actual pressing of the first run. Everything seems to be right on schedule for an August release.
The amount of recent submissions have been almost overwhelming! Stefen Reuter has graciously allowed me permission to use some scans of envelopes mailed to his family from his uncle while he was a Prisoner of War in the United Kingdom. He also sent me copies of two excellent reports made by the Red Cross about King's Cliffe during the time it was used as a POW camp, this spawned a whole new page on the CD. My good friend Chip Macomber has sent in some early 3D renderings of the King's Cliffe control tower and War Memorial he has been working on and both look amazing! Nick King has sent in two outstanding aircraft profiles (Maj. Ilfrey's "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" and Capt. Heiden's "Lucky Lady"). Allen Blue has allowed us the use of a copy of the original directives for painting "invasion stripes" on Allied aircraft on D-Day, Greg Smith sent me a scan of a photo of Maj. Jack Price from his vast collection and Peter Randall helped me get in contact with Rene Burtner, who is allowing me the use of two photos of Ross Major. Let's see, am I forgetting anything?
...Oh yes! General Orders Shopping & Delivery Service have joined as a project sponsor alongside of Innova Creative Media.
The domain name is now purchased and I'm looking around at various companies for server space so the permanent site will be up very soon, we're shooting for March 1st. now since Geocities has seen fit to make their pop-ups cover nearly a third of the page!
Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
