"The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates
My workload at the paper was rather light, so I guess there will be an update after all. And what an update this is!
Ryan Short, who has made it his goal to record as many San Antonio, Texas area military veterans' stories as possible, has graciously offered us an audio interview he did with Capt. Cliff Kies to be included on the CD project. I downloaded a sample wave from Ryan's site and the quality is nothing short of superb, I am anxious to hear the remaining hour of material and to include the interview in the project.
This will bring the number of interviews on the CD up to four, two audio (Capt. Kies and Col. Rau) and two compiled via correspondence (Maj. Ilfrey and Capt. Heiden). I hope there might be at least one more out there. I still have a few more contacts left on my list and who knows what that might turn up.
Scott Rose, the Senior Editor/Webmaster of Warbirds Resource Group has also announced that he will help promote the CD on the site and the Warbird Information Exchange - we'll take all of the free publicity we can get. Thanks Scott!
