  "The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates

Wow, what an amazing response to the debut of the website! I thank everyone who visited and even more I thank everyone who reserved an copy of the CD! Keep checking back for more updates and some new features.

If you are a new visitor allow me to welcome you to the site and to invite you to look around and discover a little bit about the men of the 79th Fighter Squadron.

I am now convinced that the decision to move back the release date was the right thing to do. In just a few days I have received submissions from Martin Kyburz of Swiss Mustangs, Lance Armstrong - the son of Lt. John L. Armstrong - sent me more scans of items relating to his father's time as a POW, my good buddy Martin Blackman (we will be collaborating on something one day, old chap!) sent me two DVDs of gun camera footage, Leonard Hansen, a former B-17 co-pilot who was at Stalag Luft 1 with Lt. Armstrong and Lt. Col. Cy Wilson, sent in some great memories to include, an old friend, Art Hoven, has graciously granted me permission to use some of his excellent photographs and I've found some new material on my own... All this and I have yet to touch the microfilm that Mark Van Sickle sent me!

We also got a donation of a scanner via my partner in cohabitational bliss, Nancy Barker. This scanner was meant to be here at the office, after several people tried it and couldn't manage to get it to work it was given to Nancy. I plugged it in and voila' it worked perfectly first try! Of course now this means we have to rearrange everything in here, but it's such a small price to pay for the freedom of not having to hop from computer to computer and room to room.

Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
