  "The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates

Toni Pardoe Ellsworth sent in a number of new photographs from the collection of Thomas Pardoe, her father, and not only has his virtual gallery doubled in size, there were enough new photos of other pilots to create two new virtual galleries and other photos have been added to existing galleries.

Thanks to Amy Warfield, the Fiebelkorn Family and the Orion Weekly Review, Ernest Fiebelkorn’s profile and virtual gallery has also grown as well. I also heard back from the committee which is putting together the Orion Veteran’s Memorial in Lake Orion, Michigan, which will feature the names of both Ernest and his brother Roger.

I’ve been corresponding with Forrest W. "Woody" Aurentz, who is writing a book about veterans from Virginia and West Virginia. He has asked to use some of the information on Drexel Crites that will be appearing on the CD. I agreed, of course. I ‘m really anxious to see Col. Aurentz’ book when it finally comes out and I hope he might have something to share.

My buddy Roger Wilkie, who made it through his surgery fine, sent me a care package full of video tapes, books and some info he's received from a former 77th Fighter Squadron crew chief. Of course there was some 79th Fighter Squadron tie-ins so I'll be adding that information to the CD in the next few days.

I connected back up with Al Thompson, my best friend from High School, earlier this week. All the time we spent together back then and neither of us knew of the other's interest in WWII aviation, LOL! He is doing real well in the Baltimore area. The week was also a real "nostalgia fest" as I've also tracked down several old friends from my days as a musician and from my early art career. My God the time has just flown!

I am in the final stages of transcribing interviews and hope to have one more to add before the CD goes out for Beta testing (which I may start sometime soon.) I am also planning on finally getting to the microfilm I received but still need to shake the last traces of this nagging flu out of my system...

Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
