"The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates
The package Pete Peterson sent arrived Friday and included were scans from a 1941 book produced by the 10th Pursuit Wing at Hamilton Field, California. Pictured are all of the enlisted personnel from the 79th Pursuit Squadron and I recognize many names as having remained with the Fightin' 79th through the end of the war in Europe. Pete also included a beautiful 8x10 inch photo of three Curtiss P-36 Hawks, (one from each of the three squadrons in the 20th Pursuit Group), in the air.
At this point I haven't decided what I will be doing with all of this but I am inclined to create a new section featuring the Fightin' 79th before their deployment to King's Cliffe in August, 1943. This would include the already added sections on the squadron's time at March and Ontario Fields.
Be sure to take a few minutes tomorrow and remember the great men and women in the Armed Forces who have given their all so that we can enjoy the freedoms we so easily take for granted, that is until they are threatened again...
Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
