"The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates
Continuing to prove that the public library is an under-utilized resource, I have heard back from two more since my last post. Joanne O'Dell, from the Akron-Summit Co. Public Library expended every effort to uncover information on Philip Gardner, but he remained quite elusive. Dale Collum, the Director of the Uinta County Libraries, not only found some information on Donald Barnard but took the initiative to contact his wife in my behalf. To quote Mr. Collum, Mrs. Barnard "would very much like to speak with you." Needless to say, I will be contacting her in the next few days.
I also heard from Edward Crutchley again and he sent a few more excellent memories that were added to the CD as soon as they arrived. He also gave me the go-ahead to use several photos of him and his beautiful family taken on their recent trip to Washington, D.C., so there are now five post-war images of him in his virtual gallery.
So, with just a little over four months left till the release, everything is continuing to go well and on schedule. I still have some writing to do and there will be updates to what I have already written as more information is uncovered, but we expected this from the very beginning and have made plans for it. I am still trying to work on a possible fix for the problems I encountered during beta testing a little while back and hope to have that taken care of in the next few days. We're also in the final phase of setting the mailing list up and should have it online by mid-month.
I hope everyone has a Safe and Happy 4th of July. I am planning on taking a day off from the project and sharing some time with my family.
Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
