"The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates
Some exciting new developments have transpired in the past 48 hours. I was contacted by an aviation historian named Matt Starr concerning the death of Richard Ott. He and German historian Dion Addario have located the crash site of a P-38 that was at first believed to be Ott's but, after swapping information back and forth between three countries it appears the site may actually be where the P-38 of Mack Fall fell to earth.
Not only have Starr and Addario excavated the site and uncovered numerous relics, they have interviewed several people who witnessed the crash and Fall's capture. In addition to this they have uncovered the name of the Luftwaffe pilot who shot Fall down! Dion has promised photos and as soon as theya re received I will be adding them.
They are both also hard at work looking for the crash site of Major Ott and thanks to the immaculate records kept by the Mayor of the village where Ott's plane crashed, there are some great clues as to where it may be located. Hopefully they will find it before the CD is due to be released as I would love to add the findings.
This, combined with the work of French historian Loic Lemarchand, who has uncovered and is planning to excavate the crash site of Neal Archer will provide a much more complete story as to what happened to these men.
I received a CD full of photos from Edward Crutchley yesterday and though I had several of the images already there were three that were new. They have been sized and included in his virtual gallery. Lance Armstrong has sent more excellent photos and some of his mother's great recollections about John Armstrong. I have added these to his virtual gallery.
Though we're pushing the limits on the editing the text, things are still on schedule and I will be sending the beta copies out Monday afternoon. I am honestly not expecting any real problems to arise, but if we do encounter something I've already slotted plenty of time to rectify any problems.
There's still some work to do, but I am optimistic about everything (wow, did I just say that? Syd Edwards as an optimist, who'd have thunk it?!)
Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
