  "The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates

Thus far the reports from our beta testers have been good. Only a few minor glitches have been discovered and those have since been fixed. The feedback I've been receiving has also been good and I'm especially pleased by this. After spending two years putting it all together, lately I've really been having a hard time viewing this project with an objective eye.

As per usual my plans to review the microfilm fell through, but I don't feel too badly about it. I spent the time finishing up a few of the remaining articles and adding two new ones (one with video) instead. In addition to that, more photos were submitted by Jeff Norman, Matt Starr and Dion Addario , and I took the time to edit, resize and include them.

I am pleased to announce that it won't be long before you will be able to order the CD straight from the Fightin' 79th site. Everything is in the process of being set-up and I'll be announcing the exact date via the mailing list (and here on the News and Updates page) sometime in the next 14 days.

I have also been in contact with the company I've chosen to do the actual manufacturing of the CD's. Not only were they were extremely helpful when I contacted them, but they seem to be very detail-oriented and that impresses me. The final draft of the cover design will be sent out early next week and the art for the actual CD will follow a few days afterward. Once the art has been checked over all that will remain left to do is send off the master copies.

This brings me to my next announcement, the final price of the CD will be $27.00 each plus $3.00 shipping and handling. The price of manufacturing the CD's will be more than I had planned for. However, I've opted to wave any additional shipping costs for the initial batch of CD's if you order more than one copy as my way of thanking everyone for all of your support.

I have also decided that, once the initial batch of CD's runs out, I will be selling the remaining pressings through an online, print-on-demand publishing house. This is the best possible next step as it will afford me the chance to get away from everything for a little while. The 10-12 hour a day grind of html coding, writing and research have taken their toll on me and I intend to spend some much needed quality time with my family over the holidays.

More announcements will follow in a matter of days so Stay Tuned! We're rounding the final corner and the finish line is in sight!

Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
