  "The Fightin' 79th" CD-ROM Updates

Beta testing is still going well. No new problems have been discovered, however I have decided to make a few changes to eliminate any potential and perceived problems or inconveniences.

One great bit of news I have received is that the CD works well on slower speed computers provided they have all of the current updates installed. This thrills me to no end as I was concerned there might be those who could not enjoy everything because their systems aren't brand new. In fact one of the main reasons I decided to create this CD using html and wmv video formats was to allow easy access for everyone.

I have also included some new material about some of the weapons and aircraft the men of the Fightin' 79th faced, (the Me-262, Me-163, V-1 and V-2,) as well as some images that I only recently finished editing. The section on the 79th Pursuit Squadron has expanded, as have several virtual galleries. The pieces written by David Knight have all been included and new information and images from Dion Addario have been included in the virtual gallery of Mack Fall.

After much deliberation we have decided we will only be accepting payments online from those of you outside the U.S. This also means that payments will only be accepted from folks in the U.S. in the form of certified checks and money orders. When the time comes we will notify everyone of the address where payments can be sent. I realize that this is not as convenient but, for right now it is how things must be.

I would also like to announce that a decision has been reached about what my next project will be. Originally I had planned to do a CD for each of the three squadrons of the 20th Fighter Group but, with the definitive history of the 77th Fighter Squadron being worked on by other researchers, this would be superfluous. My goal with these projects is not to replicate information that is readily available but to uncover and bring to light new material so it can be preserved for future generations to learn from.

In the next few weeks I will be contacting the men of another fighter group I have had contact with in the past and, if their response is positive, I will begin compiling a CD sometime in January, 2006 with an eye towards a November, 2007 release date.

I would also like to thank the many, many people who have supported this project, especially those who have taken so much time and effort to help in anyway they can. I am sure you will all be quite pleased with the final product.

Don't forget, we're taking reserve orders now, just e-mail us for more information!
